First developed in the 1930s, Methyl Methacrylate – otherwise known as ‘acrylic’ – is now one of the most commonly used and versatile plastic materials in the world today. It is commonly known by the brand names Plexiglas®, Acrylite® or Perspex®.

Acrylic is a thermoplastic with outstanding strength and stiffness. Clear acrylic is highly transparent with a light transmission of 92% optically clear, and is therefore widely used for glazing, indoor and outdoor signs, retail store fixtures, point-of-sale displays, shelving, display cases and much more.

Some of the features of this material are:

Higher impact rating than glass; it can break but does not shatter like glass.
There is an impact resistant grade available as well - clear and opal only.
Excellent weather resistance - UV stabilised
Easy to machine and fabricate. Acrylic bonds well with purpose adhesives and solvents.
Can be heated to bend at different angles or form simple curves
Has good resistance to diluted acids and alkali. (Please ask for our advice)

Available in standard sheet size of 2440 x 1220mm along with some thicknesses available in oversize sheet sizes: 2mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, 40mm and 50mm thick
